Last Sunday, we looked at David’s sin of adultery and murder in 2 Samuel 11. And, in 2 Samuel 12, we saw the prophet Nathan rebuke David, and prophesy of an insurrection that would rise up from within David’s own household.

This week, we will look at that insurrection, as we examine the story of David and Absalom in 2 Samuel 13-19. Absalom is David’s son, who rises up against him, and tries to usurp his throne and take the kingdom from him. He goes so far as to force David to flee and go into hiding. And ultimately, Absalom is killed, and David mourns the death of his son.

We will consider how sin brings devastating consequences of death and suffering. And how God is a good King, and a good Father, who loves His people, even when they rebel and commit treason against Him.

See you Sunday.
