This Sunday, we will consider the next female that is mentioned in Jesus's genealogy in Matthew 1 - Bathsheba (the wife of Uriah).
Bathsheba is the woman that King David sees, lusts after, and summons into his presence so that he can sleep with her. Then, after he impregnates her, he tries to deceive her husband into thinking that the child is his. And when that plan fails, David murders her husband.
Then, later, as punishment for David's sin, Bathsheba's child dies shortly after his is born.
We will look closely at her story. And consider what we can learn from it about God, and the gospel.
