This Sunday, we will be finishing our journey through Jesus’s sermon on the plain, hearing from Luke 6:46-49. Where Jesus instructs his people not only to be hearers of His Word, but doers.
According to Jesus, obedience to His Word is not optional. Obedience is not something for “elite” Christians, that “regular” Christians are exempt from.
And, beyond that, according to Luke 6:46-49, our obedience to God’s Word is tied to our perseverance in the Christian life. Our ability to survive the storms of this life, and persevere through them, has everything to do with how we obey God. Our perseverance as Christians has everything to do with how we respond to God’s Word. Not just hearing it, but doing it.
