Thus far, in our journey through 1 and 2 Samuel, we have met Samuel (1 Samuel 1-8), and Saul (1 Samuel 9-15). We have seen David anointed as Israel’s next king (1 Samuel 16). And we have seen David do battle with Goliath (1 Samuel 17).
And all along the way, we continually see that David is Israel’s shepherd king, from Bethlehem, who rises up to save them, and reign over them, and give them blessing and security and prosperity.
This Sunday, we will look at David and Saul, in 1 Samuel 18-31. We will examine how their relationship unfolds during the duration of Saul’s life and reign. How Saul pursues David to kill him. How David extends mercy to Saul in spite of it. And how David patiently waits on God’s timing for when he is going to be elevated to the throne that he has been promised.
See you on Sunday.
