This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series, studying through the life of David. Over the course of the next 2 months, we will look through 1 and 2 Samuel. From David’s rise to the throne, through his reign of Israel, through his final farewell.

As we begin this Sunday, we will set the context, by meeting Samuel and Saul, in 1 Samuel 1-16. We will try and cover everything from the birth of Samuel (1 Samuel 1), to Saul’s ascent to the throne (1 Samuel 8-10), all the way until when David is anointed as the king to succeed Saul.

And we will consider what application this story has for us, as Christians. Application about the character of God, and what it means to be a faithful servant of God.
