This Sunday, we will hear from Luke 22:7-23, and consider the institution of the Lord’s Supper. Jesus takes a meal tradition that had existed in Israel for centuries (the Passover), and gives it new meaning, and re-centers it on himself, and his death as a sacrifice for sin. And he commands his followers to celebrate it together from that point forward, as a way of remembering the gospel, and celebrating that the grace that we have received in Christ.
We will consider together what the Lord’s Supper is. And what it is intended to accomplish in the local church. And then, appropriately, we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together as a church family.
