Why do you think that it is important for us, as Christians today, to be reading, and internalizing the Minor Prophets?

-Zephaniah
-Haggai

-Malachi

 

As you look ahead to the next 12 weeks, to a process of considering each of the 12 minor prophets in succession, what are you hoping to learn? How are you hoping to grow and change?

 

Every minor prophet, in one way or another, serves to warn their listeners of the coming judgment of God (and call them to repentance), or to encourage their listeners of the coming restoration of God (and call them to faithfulness and perseverance). How are these themes relevant, and helpful for us today?

 

The entire prophetic office functioned to warn God’s people that they were living in violation of their covenant with God, and to call them back to covenant faithfulness. As God’s people, living under the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34, Hebrews 8), what is required of us? What promises (blessings and curses) has God made to us? What would it look like to be faithful to the our covenant with God?
