What is the main theme of the book of Joel?  How do each of the sections within the book speak to that main theme?

What is the book of Joel calling us to, as Christians in the 21ist century?  What does it look like, practically, to disregard and disobey the message of this book?  What does it look like, practically, to faithfully apply the message of this book to our lives?

In Joel 1:1-12, Joel communicates the severity and seriousness of Israel’s circumstances.  How does he then call them to respond in Joel 1:13-20?

In Joel 2, the prophet warns of God’s coming judgment (2:1-11), and calls the people to return to the Lord (2:12-17), so that God will forgive them and restore them (2:18-27), and pour out His Holy Spirit on them (2:28-32).  How do we see these attributes of God on display in this chapter:
-Holiness
-Sovereignty
-Mercy
-Goodness
-Love

In Joel 3, we see the ultimate end for the enemies of God, who persist in rebellion and rejection (3:1-16); and the ultimate end for the people of God, who repent and come to Him for mercy (3:17-21).  How should we live, in view of the realities presented in this chapter?

What are the practical implications of the doctrines of heaven (eternal joy and life with God) and hell (eternal judgment and separation from God) for us as Christians?  How are our lives affected by these theological realities?
