How would you describe the “indicative” component (the facts, the story) of the gospel? How would you describe the “imperative” component (the commands, the calling) of the gospel?
What is the significance of the doctrine of divine revelation? How is the shepherds’ experience in the fields like a Christian’s experience of God? How has God revealed Himself to you?
Why is it important for us as Christians to see life with Christ as our greatest joy? (Luke 2:10) How does it change how the Christian life is lived? What things in your life do you find competing with Christ, that are claiming to offer greater joy?
How does God’s gospel for all people pull us down out of pride and self-righteousness? How does it pulls us up out of despair? How have you seen these manifest in your life?
Read Luke 2:14. How does the gospel bring glory to God? How does it bring peace to God’s people?
Consider the response of the shepherds (2:17-18), and of Mary (2:19). What do you find comes more naturally to you – talking with people about God? Or spending time in silence with God? What practical steps can you take to grow in both of these areas?
