Psalm 46 paints a picture of a world that is full of calamity (46:2-3, 46:6), but a God is sovereign over it (46:5, 46:8-9), and who draws near to help His people in it (46:1, 46:4, 46:7, 46:10-11). What would it look like for us to trust in the sovereign grace of God, even in the midst of a life that is chaotic and uncertain?

Read Psalm 46:8-9. How can a loving God can demonstrate this kind of intense judgment on His enemies? How are we, as Christians, to understand it, and to respond to it?
In Psalm 46:10, God instructs His people to “Be still, and know that I am God”. What does it look like to obey this verse well? How can we guard against both extremes - excessive, unhealthy busyness and burnout on one hand; or apathy and passivity on the other?
